The contemporary Dany Holdstein Dance Company was founded in 1990. Artistic Director, Dany Holdstein’s personality is reflected in the company’s versatile eclectic repertoire. World renowned artists create and perform exciting sophisticated works that appeal to a wide audience, who appreciate exceptional artistic quality.
Talented dancers and choreographers come from diverse ethnic backgrounds, adding yet another dimension to the Dany Holdstein Dance Company. Personal experience has taught Dany that dance is an effective way to break down the barriers and defenses which would otherwise deprive people of the insight and acceptance into other cultures.
The Dany Holdstein Dance Company Junior Ensemble and Petite Division
Promising young dancers are invited to participate in the Junior Ensemble and Petite Division. The curriculum mirrors the multifaceted content of the dance company; in that, distinguished professionals teach aspiring students Classical Ballet, Contemporary Ballet, Modern Dance and Jazz. Participants are required to study different forms of dance disciplines in any combination. According to Dany Holdstein, "the reason is for students to have an opportunity to explore something they otherwise might never have tried. And also because today’s dancers must be well versed in several styles of dance; as it improves their marketability."
Equally important to their dance education, is the personal mentoring students receive helping them cope with the emotional ups and downs of adolescence. Juan Antonio Rodriguez was one of the first Junior Ensemble scholarship students. Juan says, “this program gave me the opportunity of a lifetime!” The technique and discipline Juan mastered during his years with the Junior Ensemble earned him a full four year scholarship to the prestigious Julliard School. Natalia Alonso, another Junior Ensemble graduate, appreciates the personal guidance which enabled her to land a spot with Ballet Hispanico. Over the years, this program has made a discernable difference in helping students achieve their goals.
